Father's Day - Silver City

We went to Silver City this weekend to see David's dad for Father's Day. I thought I'd post some pictures and take you on a "tour" of our trip. :)

First stop: Deming, NM, Friday afternoon. We saw Uncle Waldo and Auntie Nae at their house.

Then we drove on to Silver City, where we went to dinner with Grandpa Waldo, Grandma Debbi, and Uncle Jeremy.

We stayed Friday night at Grandpa and Grandma's house. Zoe slept for 8 hours with no feedings (we had started her sleeping through the night earlier last week).
On Saturday, we drove out of Silver City to somewhere near Bill Evans Lake, where Uncle Brenten and Auntie Angel were camping. We had lunch there, and got our feet wet in the river (well, it was a chance for Zoe to wear her new swimsuit anyways). :) David went upriver a little ways and got a close up shot of a beautiful crane.

After we were done in the river, we ate some "Underground Cake" that Auntie Angel had made - literally underground! Uncle Brenten dug a hole, and filled it with charcoal from the fire, and covered the pot with dirt, and 45 minutes later, we had a delicious Betty Crocker chocolate cake. :) Yum!

We spent some more time visiting with family before heading out of Silver City back to Deming.

In Deming, we took Uncle Waldo and Auntie Nae to dinner at The Patio for their first anniversary. Dessert was a wonderful strawberry maltshake - YUMMY!

We drove home Saturday night, got home just before 1:00 Sunday morning. We stopped in T or C, and at the McDonald's, there was a huge tarantula that I begged David to get a picture of, so here is that one:

Zoe did great on her first road trip - here is a picture of her when we got home:

Zoe's new play gym

Couldn't resist posting these pictures of Zoe laying on her new gym set (thank you, Liz).

Here's another one from later this afternoon. Have no idea what she was thinking, but I love her left eyebrow up; isn't it cute?! :)

A Quiet Wednesday

Today is a quiet day around the house. Wednesdays are normally David's day off of work (he works four 10-hour days), but he needed to go in this morning and get a project done. Now he is playing racquetball with a friend from work, and should be home in an hour or two. I had a very nice phone conversation with mi mamacita this morning, and we're hoping to see Nana (David's mom) later. So when David gets home, we'll take a short drive downtown to see Nana. I think we're also hoping to see Grandpa H in the rehab hospital (he had double knee replacement surgeries last week). And tonight, we're planning to go to church. Tomorrow is a trip to the Botanical Gardens (and maybe the Zoo) with family and friends. I'll have some pictures to post when we get home from that.

Zoe is sleeping right now. She is growing ever so steadily, and eating well. She smiles and laughs, and follows me around the room with her eyes. She has two positions - laying down (in the cradle or bassinet) and being held, so we're going to borrow Mom and Dad's baby swing so that I can put her in that during the day, and she can start building up her neck and head muscles. Last Thursday, she weighed in at 8 lbs, 1 3/4 oz. On an old-time scale, she would now balance out a full gallon of milk. :)

Now that she's sleeping, I should think about getting a little housework done. No, maybe not "think about," maybe I should "do." LOL :) I'll write more tomorrow or Friday (and post pictures!) after our visit to the Botanical Gardens. Bye for now!

Beautiful Clouds

David took a picture of the clouds over town on Sunday night. They were quite impressive! Mom said she and Dad saw saw some rotation, but as far as I know, there were no reported tornadoes (does the plural of tornado end in -s or -es? LOL). Isn't this picture pretty amazing?!

Dr. Seuss Explains Why Computers Sometimes Crash

(found this while sorting out files this morning - thought it was pretty funny!)

If a packet hits a pocket on a socket on a port, and the bus is interrupted at a very last resort, and the access of the memory makes your floppy disk abort, then the socket packet pocket has an error to report.

If your cursor finds a menu item followed by a dash and the double clicking icon puts your window in the trash; and your data is corrupted cause the index doesn't hash, then your situation's hopeless and your system's gonna crash!

If the label on the cable on the table at your house says the network is connected to the button on your mouse, but your packets want to tunnel to another protocol, that's repeatedly rejected by the printer down the hall, and your screen is all distorted by the side effects of gauss, so your icons in the window are as wavy as a souse; then you may as well reboot and go out with a bang, cuz sure as I'm a poet, the sucker's gonna hang!

When the copy of your floppy's getting sloppy in the disk and the microcode instructions cause unncessary risk, then you'll have to flash the memory and you'll want to RAM your ROM. Quickly turn off your computer and be sure to tell your Mom!

Then get a Mac, before you get Trashed or Hacked - Jack.

Four Anchors for Trials

“These ‘four anchors’ they found in Andrew Murray’s formula for trial.

1. Say, He brought me here. It is by His will I am in this strait place and in that fact I will rest.

2. He will keep me here in His love and give me grace to behave as His child.

3. Then He will make the trial a blessing, teaching me the lessons He intends for me to learn.

4. In His good time He can bring me out again—how and when He knows.

So let me say, I am (1) here by God’s appointment; (2) in His keeping; (3) under His training; (4) for His time.”

"Bottle Bride"

My mom and Zoe and I attended Sarah's bridal shower on Saturday. One of the games we played was to use a roll of toilet paper to dress up our group's "model" as a bride, and the prettiest "bride" won. Mom, Teri, Mary-Ellen, and I had so much fun making Zoe look like a bride - though she would be the youngest bride I've heard of (five weeks, and still drinking from bottles!). :) LOL Thought I'd post a picture so y'all could enjoy it, too. :)

Five Week Update

Zoe went to the pediatrician this morning, and weighed in at 7 lbs, 12 oz. Yay!! She is growing "enough" now - and we are happy to see her eating well and getting filled after each meal. :) She is 5 weeks old today, and as happy a baby as ever there was! :) :)

Nearly Five Weeks Old - Already!

We had our pictures taken yesterday to mark Zoe being one month old (which was actually on Monday the 1st). She is sooo cute!!! We have an appointment at the pediatricians tomorrow for another weight check (we've been doing a few of those in the last week!)... to see if she is putting on "enough" weight for being five weeks old. Five weeks old! Wow, time is flying, for sure! *sigh
Enjoy the pictures!
